The Blaine Public Schools Foundation brought the pumpkin patch to Blaine Primary School on Wednesday with the Lil' Pumpkin Patch for students in kindergarten and transition to kindergarten. Classes participated in a pumpkin-themed science experiment with Terre Shapiro, foundation board member and retired teacher, and then picked out their own mini pumpkin to decorate back in their classrooms while they enjoyed apple juice and snickerdoodle cookies from L&L Bakery. Fall-themed decorations were donated by Van Wingerden's Home and Garden, and the pumpkins were donated by the CTK Food Share & Farm. Foundation founder Traci Bowe called it a "fantastic example of the community coming together." The foundation is currently in the middle of its online IMPACT auction and has raised $14,000 to go towards education enrichment for Blaine students, hoping to surpass its total of $20,000 last year.
