Two more men have been arrested in connection with a shooting between the Bandidos and Mongols motorcycle gangs in Birch Bay on a busy Labor Day weekend.
Diego Uribe-Gonzalez, a 40-year-old Lynnwood resident, was booked into Whatcom County Jail on Friday, Sept. 11, on allegations of robbery and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit. He remained in jail on Wednesday.
Jereme Robertson, 39, who may live in Ferndale, has been accused of attempted robbery, reckless endangerment and assault, according to court documents filed in Whatcom County Superior Court. He was released from jail on Monday after paying a $500,000 bail.
Uribe-Gonzalez was shot in the right shin during the altercation in the 7800 block of Birch Bay Drive, which was reported about 7:12 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6. The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office, Blaine and Lynden police departments, and the Washington State Patrol responded to the incident.
Two other men have already been arrested.
Roman Mayne de Isla Puga, a 31-year-old Boise, Idaho, resident, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, attempted robbery, drive-by shooting and making a false statement to law enforcement. William Huskey, a 54-year-old man who lives in Snohomish, was charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon and reckless endangerment.
They both remain in jail on $1 million bail each.
Surveillance footage showed “civilian traffic through the area to be heavy, with families seen walking on the sidewalks and multiple vehicles passing through the area. Children were also present,” read court documents that detailed how the shooting unfolded on the evening of Sept. 6:
Robertson, Mayne and Uribe-Gonzalez rode their motorcycles into the area first and parked across the street from Bay Breeze Restaurant and Bar. They’re seen wearing leather vests with Mongols patches on the back, according to court documents.
Soon after, Huskey and his wife arrived. Huskey was wearing a leather vest with Bandidos patches on it. As they were getting ready to enter Bay Breeze for dinner, the other three reportedly surrounded them.
They’re there for “some time,” according to court documents, before Huskey allegedly points his gun at Robertson. All four men struggle for the gun and Uribe-Gonzalez is shot in the leg. Robertson and Huskey fire multiple times at each other. Mayne also shot at Huskey, court documents say.
Huskey later said the trio demanded he remove his Bandidos patch and said he was acting in self-defense. The attempted robbery allegations are tied to the demand.
Uribe-Gonzalez was the only person hurt in the shooting.
