Whatcom County is accepting comments on the anticipated environmental impact of its comprehensive plan, which will shape how the county plans for the next two decades of growth.
The county, as well as its cities, is in the process of updating its comprehensive plan, which is its long-term planning document that is updated every 10 years. County officials aim to finish the comprehensive plan updates by the end of the year.
Written comments, which opened April 30, are due Sunday, June 1. Comments on the environmental statement may be submitted by email to 2025updateeis@co.whatcom.wa.us or mailed to Mark Personius at Planning and Development Services, 5280 Northwest Drive, Bellingham, WA 98226 with the title “Draft EIS Comments.”
The public may also provide comments on the environmental plan at a public hearing scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 21. The hearing will be held in County Council Chambers at the Whatcom County Courthouse, 311 Grand Avenue in Bellingham, and via Zoom, which can be accessed at bit.ly/4iQZLTe.
