The new season has descended upon us. The wind has a certain chill and the sky is bright, but tinged with the smoky haze of fall. The message is clear: summer has become a bundle of memories. The Blaine Senior Center has many memorable new events and great activities now beginning with autumn.

Thursday, October 9: Experience the nifty ’50s with the Travelin’ Light Band. Come enjoy some musical entertainment while savoring lunch.

Thursday, October 16: Come to social hour once a month to learn about happenings in the genealogy world at the Genealogy Social Club.

Thursday, October 16: The Blaine Senior Center’s Oktoberfest celebration will feature music by the Polka Dots and beer samples from Boundary Bay Brewery from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Enjoy toe-tapping accordion music and a special Oktoberfest lunch of bratwurst, sauerkraut, hot potato salad, green salad and apple crisp.

Saturday, October 18: Stop by for the Blaine Senior Center Pancake Breakfast, with pancakes, waffles, French toast, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, sausage, coffee, tea and orange juicSenior_SG-11e. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for children.

Tuesday, October 21: Country music by the Hometowners from 11:40 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sign up to carpool and make a fun harvest-time trip to Stoney Ridge Farm in Everson.

A free tour and history of the farm has been arranged. A covered pumpkin wagon ride is waiting for us as well. Bring money to buy a pumpkin or some delicious homemade baked goods.

Saturday, October 25: Participate in an outdoor cleanup at Make a Difference Day. Bring gloves and have fun making a difference.

Tuesday, October 28: Attend a Medicare talk for information about healthcare coverage and access to help improve the lives of Washington residents.

Wednesday, October 29: Join chocolate professors and learn to make your own chocolate at the Chocolate Creations class. Preregister for $20 to make and take home wonderful chocolate.

Thursday, October 30: Get a flu shot. Bring your insurance card, and plan to stay well.

Friday, October 31: Celebrate Halloween. Watch the classic movie “Dracula,” trick or treat, dress in costume and win prizes at lunch. Play Batty Bingo at 12:30 p.m.
