The Blaine High School Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held on Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. at the Blaine High School Performing Arts Center. The Blaine Athletics Booster Club is holding the ceremony, and it will be free to attend.
The booster club’s Hall of Fame Committee Chairman Gary Clausen said the ceremony will feature speeches from the inductees.
Clausen said attendees will learn about the inductees’ careers as Borderites, and what they went on to do after high school.
He said that oftentimes people will remember the athlete’s time at Blaine High School, but they never hear more about the great things they go on to do in life.
“It’s amazing what some of the people have done beyond high school,” he said.
He said he’s heard feedback in past years from first-time attendees who were impressed at the lives the hall of fame athletes go on to have.
Clausen said that the booster club is making an effort to have more participation from current Blaine High School students at the ceremony.
This year’s ceremony will feature the national anthem sung by the Blaine High School choir and performances from the cheerleaders.
William Hanson and Gloria Mutch Eastman, will be inducted as distinguished honorees.
Taylor V’Dovee and Stefawn Perrin will be the female athletes inducted. David Halldorson, Robert Densmore and Tony Harriman will be the male athletes inducted, and Gary Dunster will be inducted as a contributor. See more details about the inductees on Page 6.
“I would hope (attendees) want to come to honor these people,” Clausen said. “To honor them and what they've done for our high school in the past.”
